Cheaper by the Dozen Performance Dates

Cheaper by the Dozen
September 23rd, 24th, and October 1st at 7:30pm
September 25th and October 2nd at 2:00pm
Old Town Theatre
1023 12th St.
Huntsville, TX 77340

We originally posted about the audition dates for Cheaper by the Dozen, and now we are nearing show time! Above you will find the performance dates for Cheaper by the Dozen.

This play, based on the autobiographical book with the same name, is about the many characters that make up the Gilbreth clan and the strong and varied personalities within it. If your only exposure to Cheaper by the Dozen is the movie starring Steven Martin, then you have missing out, because that movie and its sequel bare very little resemblance to the original book or even the 1950 movie... they are actually GOOD.

Aftermath: Crazy Dazy Bokayz's Grand Opening

Yesterday, I went out to the Grand Opening of Crazy Dazy Bokayz. The address is 275 FM 247, Huntsville, TX 77320. If you follow Map Quest, it will tell you that it is located on Avenue M in-between Thomason and Ross. DON’T follow those directions. I circled the area for about twenty minutes and then decided to continue along down the road since I knew I was looking for a place with a big water slide and had yet to see one. I found Crazy Dazy Bokayz’s across FM 2821 RD W on the corner of Jenkins RD, and there was INDEED a big water slide!
(The big water slide)

Thanks to work and getting lost, the Grand Opening party had already been going on for almost two hours by the time I got there. However, there was still a nice sized crowd.

93.5 The Outlaw was there with a couple of games set up with prizes for the winners that included free T-shirts. I was terrible at the tossing game and the pig dice game, but they were still nice enough to give me a free T-shirt. Thanks, guys!

(The fancy "Outlaw" van)

("Outlaw" Dave and his wife, Brandy. Their celebrity couple name is "Dandy.")

Along with a water slide, games, and 93.5 The Outlaw, there was also free BBQ from the brand new Drifter's Barb-B-Que. It is located right next to Crazy Dazy Bokayz's. According to the sign on the window, it has not officially opened. Hopefully, that means ANOTHER grand opening with free BBQ in the near future! =)

(This picture does not do the food justice. It was VERY tasty and almost gone by the time I started eating.)

(There was also face painting)

Since the purpose of the Grand Opening was to celebrate the official opening of Crazy Dazy Bokayz's, lets not forget about the actual store. Here is a picture of the outside of the building:

The inside was just as cute. I am a fan of bright and vibrant colors, and I was not disappointed.
(Nice smelling soaps,perfumes, and more.)

(Purses, wallets, necklaces, and more)

(Pretty dresses for pretty little girls. They make me wish I was three again! )

HERE is their website if you are interested in seeing more of their inventory. For more pictures of this event, visit our Facebook page by clicking HERE.

Congrats Crazy Dazy Bokayz on the successful Grand Opening. I know that I will be going back for more of the pretty flowers for my hair so please stock up! =)

Ice Cream Social: Helping to Raise Money for the Crabbs Prairie Fire Station

Ice Cream Social
Saturday, August 13th from 5:00pm -8:00pm

All of the firemen and women have been working hard this summer to put out the fires that continue to spark and spread throughout Huntsville and the surrounding areas. This means that they have been spending more money than normal with the same low budget.
The Huntsville Item recently reported on the Pine Prairie Volunteer Fire Department's need for an increased budget from Walker County, which according to the Item and the Pine Prairie Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook PAGE is $600 per month with no increase in that amount since 1998. Considering how much the cost of living—and especially the cost of gas and fuel—has increased over the years, this budget is clearly not enough. Especially with the record high temperatures (How many days in a row has the temperature been above 100 degrees?) this summer as well as the continuing drought!
Without proper funding, the Pine Prairie Volunteer Fire Department will be forced to shut down. In order to prevent that from happening, the Pine Prairie Volunteer Fire Department is requesting that everyone call Walker County at (936) 436-4910. The more calls that Walker County receives the more likely it is that they will receive the requested budget increase.
The Crabbs Prairie Volunteer Fire Department is also seeking help. This Saturday, August 13th, the Crabbs Prairie Volunteer Fire Department is having an Ice Cream Social. Drive out to the station, cool down with a big bowl of ice cream, meet some of the men and women who volunteer their time and risk their lives to put out fires, and leave a donation at the door!
If you can’t attend but would like to make a contribution, you can mail it to the following address:
          Crabbs Prairie Volunteer Fire Department
          28 F.M. 1696 W
          Huntsville, TX 77320

Hopefully, both of these Volunteer Fire Departments are successful in receiving and/or raising the money they need. We want to thank everyone involved with helping to keep these fire departments open and of course the firemen and women for working so hard this summer to protect Huntsville and the surrounding areas from burning down! THANK YOU!

Attn: Renaissance Lovers! SCA Meeting - Thurs., Aug. 4 @ 7p

The Barony of Raven's Fort is having their monthly meeting Thursday at 7p at Fire Station No. 2 (2109 Sam Houston Ave.). For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about, let me explain: The Barony at Raven's Fort is a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism.

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is "an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe." You know, those people that dress in clothing from the Middle Ages and Renaissance! They do much more than just walk around in fancy clothes, though. Members are interested in and learn about things such as archery, heraldry, cooking, brewing, bardic arts, dance, and much, much more.

The Barony at Raven's Fort covers the lands of Conroe, Cleveland, Huntsville, and Livingston. If you live in or near any of these areas, feel free to attend the meeting tomorrow. If you are interested in joining or just checking it out and can't make it to the meeting, you can check out their website here: http://ravens-fort.ansteorra.org/. You can also call the group's Hospitaller (officer who acts as a kind of liaison between the SCA and the modern world), David, at  (936)581-5841.
