The City of Huntsville Rec Services Dept. is hosting a Memorial Day event on Monday, May 30 from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM at the Aquatic Center (912 Avenue N).
There will be free swimming, a DJ, a hot dog eating contest, sugar cookie painting, a patriotic swimsuit contest, etc. Don't get too excited about the swimsuit contest, though. It is for children ages 12 and under.
Sugar cookie decorating starts around noon, and the hot dog eating contest starts around 1:00. The swimsuit contest will happen around 3:00.
The hot dog eating contest is limited to the first 10 people that sign up, so if you are interested in participating, get there early. For the rest of us, the concession stand will be open all day. You have to be 12 or over to participate in the hot dog eating contest; kids under 18 must have a parent sign a waiver.
